ABDUL M. SULEMAN – President & CEO 

Abdul M. Suleman has over thirty years of experience in the hospitality industry with a leading global hotel corporation, and has earned a reputation for successful hotel turnarounds where he has taken underperforming hotel properties into profitability. Mr. Suleman’s professional accomplishments include openings of new hotels and takeovers of financially challenged properties. In 1994, Mr. Suleman founded Equinox Hospitality which serves in the various roles of hotel acquisition, development, asset management, project consulting and manage full-service hotels in major markets throughout the United States and around the world. Prior to forming Equinox Hospitality, Mr. Suleman served in senior management positions with Hyatt Hotels Corporation for over twenty-two years. He was directly responsible for many major Hyatt Hotels. He has served on the board of directors for multiple organizations and is an active participant in numerous community activities. JAMES T. DIETHRICH – Development

James T. Diethrich is responsible for development of new properties. He brings over 20 years of experience in hotel development and renovation. As the founder and first president of Hyatt Development Corporation, Mr. Diethrich was responsible for managing the development of Hyatt Hotels throughout the United States. During his seven years with Hyatt, he oversaw the development of over $750,000,000 worth of new hotel and mixed-use projects. Mr. Diethrich departed Hyatt to form JTD & Associates, which has resulted in the development of over $300,000,000 of new properties in the Western United States.
 
 
BILL FLEISHMAN – Project Director
 

Bill Fleishman has detailed knowledge and experience in the areas of hotel construction, renovations, and facilities management.  During his over 30 years of experience in real estate investment, acquisition and corporate finance he has represented international investors in sourcing and completing acquisitions throughout North America and Canada.  Mr. Fleishman's knowledge and experience in real estate investment represent a valuable resource in providing research and analysis to help property owners improve competitiveness, by "knowing the next move." 


Distinguished career in mixed-use hotel developments and multi-family projects providing assistance in negotiating operating agreements, identifying appropriate interior design firms and FF&E procurement.  Owner advocacy in real estate and business property tax matters, hotel asset management, capital planning and improvements, energy power purchases including assisting in negotiations for a coal fired, co-ventured power generating plant development by Pakistani sponsors and Zhejiang Machinery (People’s Republic of China) under technology transfer agreements between the Chinese Government and Siemens Energy Group. 


Sourcing, structuring and debt/equity capital development for real estate and middle-market mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and financings.  Providing investors with legal, accountancy and real estate counseling; investment analysis and negotiations on a global basis, liaising with Middle Eastern, Salvadorian and European clients. Board member of technologies firm specializing in development of Internet deployed software applications for food distribution, manufacturing and processing. 

 

Investment Banking associated with leading independent client-based relationship firms including financial consulting, research, strategic planning and marketing strategies. Bill has sourced and facilitated mid-market transactions from $2 to over $100 million covering all major industry categories. 

 

 

ARNIE FLEISCHMAN – Operations

Arnie Fleischman has served as a manager and executive at various hotels and hospitality companies in California, Illinois, Nevada, and New York, among others. With over 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Mr. Fleischman was handpicked by the Pritzker family to oversee the development and eventually the management of Hyatt's flagship property—the Hyatt Regency O'Hare near Chicago. His outstanding hospitality and sales & marketing background was noticed by Steve Wynn when he was hired to develop and operate the highly successful Golden Nugget property in Atlantic City. In addition, his marketing expertise is currently being utilized by Allied Integrated Marketing, one of the largest entertainment marketing companies in the United States.  

 

Mr. Fleischman holds an associate degree in hotel management from New York City College of Technology. He is a member of Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
 
 
JOHN HAMATI – Middle East Operations

John Hamati’s quarter-century career encompasses the development, management and marketing of full service hotels, resort hotels, boutique hotels, and upscale mixed-use resort and residential communities in both the domestic and international arenas. Mr. Hamati has held senior positions at The Woodlands Resort and Country Club, Marriott Golf Resort and Spa, International Resort Management, as well as career affiliations with Hyatt Hotels, Kimpton Hotels and Aston Hotels and Resorts. His international experience includes property management in the Bahamas, Mexico, Caribbean, Panama, and Spain. Mr. Hamati has served on multiple boards including area Tourist Development Councils, Economic Development Partnerships, and several Chambers of Commerce. He is fluent in Arabic, English, French, and Spanish.
 
 
FIROZ MOTI – General Manager, Jeddah Office

Firoz Moti is a hotel finance executive based in the Middle East. He has been associated with the hospitality industry for over three decades overseeing project feasibility, contract administration, development and financial planning. His strong operational background and long presence in the Middle East results in a good understanding of the region’s cultural and traditional business practices. Having a good competency in spoken Arabic and fluent in English, Mr. Moti has the ability to effectively manage a multi-national work force. With a Bachelor degree in commerce along with Major in accounting and economics from Bombay India University and, specialization courses in Hospitality Industry Financial Management from American Hotel & Motel Association, Mr. Moti has held senior positions with Starwood Hotels & Resorts as an Area Director of Finance Sheraton Al Hada & Madinah Hotels in Saudi Arabia, with Hilton Hotels as Director of Finance (Based at Madinah KSA) and with Elaf Hotels as Corporate Finance & Development Manager in Jeddah KSA.
 
 
RICHARD S. PRITZKER – Global Investment

Richard S. Pritzker was actively involved in the formation of the Hyatt International Corporation and served as Associate General Counsel of Hyatt Corporation. Mr. Pritzker has also acquired and served as co-general partner of the Pasadena Hilton and other hotel properties and managed numerous joint ventures in the real estate business with the Pritzker family.
 
 
RAVI SIKAND – Accounting

Ravi Sikand’s extensive hospitality accounting and finance background encompasses 21 years with industry leaders such as Marriott International, Pacific Hotel Associates, Southwest Hospitality Group, The Kor Group, and Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants. The focus of his most recent experience has been with luxury segment hotels, restaurants, and resorts. In addition, he has worked on the condo-hotel accounting module with a special focus on homeowner association accounting needs and relationships.
  
Mr. Sikand also set-up and ran a successful company that focused on offering accounting and other back-office solutions to the hospitality industry. His company maintained the books for over 25 hotels and resorts. His model encompassed an integrated and customized approach to solving all of his clients’ back-office needs. At one end of the spectrum, his company’s approach was to provide clients with financial software platforms and assist them in training, implementation, and support for their organizations. At the other end of the spectrum, his company provided a business outsourcing model that managed all the clients’ back-office accounting needs. One of Mr. Sikand's strengths is analyzing financial statements, keeping expenses in-line with revenues, and maximizing the potential earnings flow-through to the bottom-line. He is also proficient in applying GAAP/GAAS principles to auditing engagements and management reporting. 
   
Mr. Sikand has consulted on computerizing numerous business accounting systems. He is a strategic financial planner for existing and start-up properties, specializing in turn-around and take-over situations. Mr. Sikand holds controller certifications from the University of California at Berkeley, and both a bachelor and master degree in economics from Delhi University and Varanasi University (India), respectively. 
 
 
EVROS STAKIS – European Development

The son of the late Sir Reo Stakis, Evros Stakis is returning to the industry he first trained in and with which his name is most closely associated. Mr. Stakis is Chairman of Equinox Stakis Hotels Ltd., a United Kingdom company focused on developing, building, owning and managing hotels in the UK and the rest of Europe working in partnership with Equinox Hospitality. 
  
 
ADAM SULEMAN – Acquisitions & Asset Management

Adam Suleman’s broad hotel background brings to Equinox extensive hotel operational experience from his career with Starwood Hotels & Resorts’ W Brand. While with Starwood, he earned numerous accolades and widespread recognition for his management style in regards to hotel guest satisfaction scores and leadership. Mr. Suleman's hotel resume covers both union and non-union luxury properties in New York City, New Orleans, and San Francisco. Moreover, he has been a repeat guest speaker at hospitality programs in the Bay Area such as San Francisco State University and the University of San Francisco.   
  
Mr. Suleman's education includes a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Economics from Santa Clara University. Moreover, he studied International Business at Imperial College in London, England, and has completed the certificate program from Cornell University in Hotel Real Estate Investments and Asset Management. He is also a registered broker with the Department of Real Estate in California. Combining his hotel operations background with his real estate and financial knowledge, Mr. Suleman has the unique ability to identify high-potential assets, structure deals, and maximize value at the bottom-line while understanding the importance of maintaining a quality product.
 

SAM SULEMAN – Development & Operations

Sam Suleman has extensive experience in a number of areas of hospitality including new hotel development, new brand development, repositioning & renovation of existing hotel properties, hospitality technology, hotel operations, and food & beverage concept development and operations.  Mr. Suleman has been a speaker at various hospitality, development, and design conferences.  He has also served on committees with a number of global hotel companies on the development of various new hotel brands as well as on their active brand committees.  

 

Currently, Mr. Suleman serves on the Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts Board and is the Vice-Chairman of the Emerging Leaders Council through his service with the IHG Owners Association.  He is also the Chairman of the Technology Task Force for InterContinental Hotels Group.
